"Back Into the Wild"
a poem about... well, maybe just watch it and read it.
Important: Watch til the very end.
After many years of practice I too became an expert tracker and trapper. It was still dark when I went out Found and followed them down to their den Caught them Kept them Fed them Thinking they’d bring me Comfort, certainty, or guarantee. But they kicked within their confines Roared against their reins Resisted their restraints and Hissed at their hindrances. No comfort could I conjure from their capture Nor certainty obtain through their chains. One morning I awoke with instructions: “Release your caged Expectations back into the wild Loosen your imprisoned illusions Free your fantasies from their fences Find a friend And in the daylight, Go hunt for new Hope.” -T.
P.S.
I really did wake up one morning with the lines: “Release your caged expectations back into the wild, hunt for new hope.” At first I thought they were part of another piece I was working on, but they took me down a different road.
It’s a mystery how these things work.
